Steve Doig (Walter Cronkite School of Journalism & Mass Communication of Arizona State University)

Professor of Computer Assisted Writing in the State University of Arizona, Steve Doig has worked in projects thah won the Pulitzer Prize in the areas of Public Service, the prize for Investigator and Editor, the Goldsmith prize for Investigative Reporting, among others. In January 2010, he was chosen as Distinguished Chair, in the 50th anniversary of Fulbright Portugal, spending a semester teaching journalism in Universidade Nova de Lisboa.

Concha Edo (Universidad Complutense de Madrid)

Concha Edo teaches Journalism in Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Her investigation focus mainly on the daily press, as well as cybermedia and the way the Internet influencies the press, the work in newsrooms, the journalism itselg and the way it is taught. Author of dozens of articles in scientific and academic editions, she has also particpated in many national and international conferences.

Elvira García de Torres (Universidad Cardenal Herrera)

Elvira García de Torres is Professor of Digital Journalism at Universidad CEU Cardenal Herrera, in Valencia, where she has been teaching for 20 years. Doctorate in Communication at Universidade Complutense de Madrid, she runs the Observatory for Investigation on Digital Media and took part in the organization of Digital Journalism Days in Valencia.

Helder Bastos (Universidade do Porto)

Doctorate student in Communication Sciences, Helder Bastos has a Master’s Degree in Communication Sciences from the Social and Human Sciences Faculty of the Universidade Nova in Lisbon. Between 1996 and 2002, he taught at the O’Porto Superior School of Journalism. He curently teaches the Communication Sciences course in the University of Oporto, Portugal. Helder Bastos worked as a journalist between 1988 and 2003, in Jornal de Notícias, Rádio Press and Diário de Notícias, as editor. He published the book Jornalismo Electrónico: Internet e Reconfiguração de Práticas nas Redacções.

João Canavilhas (Universidade da Beira Interior)

Assistant teacher in the University of Beira Interior (UBI), Portugal, João Canavilhas teaches several subjects in the journalism area. He is also an investigator in Labcom – Communication and Online Contents Laboratory, and he coordinates the Multimedia Centre at UBI. Professionally, João Canavilhas worked in portuguese television channel RTP and he still collaborates with local radios and newspapers since the end of the 1980s. He is also the director of the first online university newspaper in Portugal, URBI.

Marcos Palacios (Universidade Federal da Bahia)

Marcos Palácios is investigator on Journalism in Universidade Federal da Bahia, where he coordinates the Group for Researcch on Online Journalism. Doctorate in sociology in University of Liverpool, he was one of the creators of Center of Studies in Cyberculture. His investigation has recently centered in matters concerning Memory in Cyberjournalism and the production of tools for evaluating the quality of Journalism in the Web.
